Fontana wildlife control tip of the month: How do I know if there are baby wild animals in the attic?
Having wild animals in your house is never a pleasant Fontana exterminator experience. It could be a hundred times worse if these animals are reproducing in your attic. But how do you know if there are babies in your attic? Depending on the animal there are usually several warning signs present that one should pay attention to. The first Fontana pest control sign that something is in your attic is might be any strange or unusual noises. Are you hearing scratching, squeaking, or skittering noises above you? The type of noise is often indicative of what type of animal you are dealing with. The time that you hear the noise is also relevant. If you are hearing noises primarily at night you can deduce that the animal might be a nocturnal one such as a raccoon. If the noises you hear happen mainly during the day time then it could be an animal such as a Fontana animal control squirrel.
If you begin to suspect there is a wild animal in your attic you can also check for any Fontana animal trapping signs of entry. The bigger the entry point, most likely the bigger the animal. You may also be able to see other signs such as specific types of droppings or food storage. Certain animals such as rats and mice will also leave small chew marks on wood, wires, etc. If you get lucky you may also be able to find visible footprints, or even spot the animal. Researchers have discovered that specific animals are more likely to enter your attic at certain times of the year. For example, raccoons usually enter in the spring months when they are looking for a place to nest and birth their young.
This brings us to the further Fontana wildlife removal problem of whether or not these wild animals also have babies in the attic. Upon search of the premises, a huge sign that these creatures have young would be nests. Usually near an opening where mother and young can come and go more easily. Most nests are easy to spot because they consist of a piling of materials such as cardboard, paper, leaves, etc. Another indication may be if the mother is bringing and storing food to give to her young. If you happen to spot the animal while on your search, you will also be able to tell by the animal's nipples whether or not they have recently given birth. The nipples will be enlarged and appear to be swollen, especially if the birth has been recent. Often the stomachs will also be slightly enlarged just after birth just like a human mother. If you spot a nest, you may be able to visually confirm that there are baby wild animals in the attic. However, be careful not to touch the animals or get too close. Many wild creatures will abandon their young if they catch the scent of a human being on the infant.
